Genesee Community College Holds Financial Aid Day

Genesee Community College is holding a Financial Aid Day on Wednesday, March 26, 2008 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm in the Student Union at the Batavia campus. Students of all ages, as well as parents and other family members will have an opportunity to apply for financial aid, get help filling out FAFSA forms, look for scholarships, and speak to financial aid advisors.
“This is a chance for current students as well as potential students to stop in and get their questions about academic financial aid answered,” said Joe Bailey, Director of Financial Aid. “It is not only an informative event, but we try to diminish the pressure from things like financial forms and federal guidelines by making the information very clear, easily accessible, and adding a little bit of fun.”

Last year, Genesee Community College awarded nearly $16 million dollars in financial aid through a variety of programs including federal Pell Grants, New York State TAP fund, fiscal loans, and numerous College scholarship programs. Approximately 82% of Genesee’s students receive some form of financial aid.

“While the task of filling out forms can be a bit onerous, the good news is that we are here to help and there are numerous financial aid avenues to consider, including the new Genesee Promise program which gives area families another potential resource of assistance to explore,” Bailey said.

Refreshments will be available and prizes will be awarded throughout the session. For more information contact the Financial Aid Office at 585-345-6900.
