The women’s basketball traveled to Mercyhurst Northeast on Tuesday February 14 and came home victorious with a 67-43 win.
Leading a balanced scoring night for the women was Quiana Holman (Bronx, NY) with eleven points. Holman also grabbed nine rebounds. Ariel Smith (Wallkill, NY) added ten points and dished out three assists. Brittany McCray (Lyons, NY) had a steady night for the Lady Cougars with nine points, eleven rebounds, and four steals. Other key contributors were Latoya Anderson (Bronx, NY) with nine points and seven rebounds, Erica Austin (Utica, NY) with six rebounds and a game-high five assists, and Bianca Jones (Long Island City, NY) with nine points and eight rebounds.
The game was back and forth in the first half and the Lady Cougars couldn’t seem to stop Perrial Pearson who had 16 points in the first half. The team went into half-time with an eight point lead. The Cougars came out strong in the second half outscoring the Saints by 16 and holding Pearson to just four points.
The women’s team will face Monroe CC at home on Tuesday February 19 at 6pm. The Lady Cougars lost at Monroe CC in their first meeting, 67-72.
