Encore 2007: A Successful Celebration for Scholarship Support

About 320 area residents attended Encore 2007, Genesee Community College Foundation’s annual holiday fundraising event. The December 5th gala raised funds for the College’s scholarship programs.

The evening began with a gourmet reception in the Batavia Campus’ William W. Stuart Forum. Guests then walked to the Stuart Steiner Theatre for a holiday pops concert of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, and then returned to the Forum for a gourmet dessert hour.

Contributions are still coming in, so the final tally won’t be available until early January, said Foundation Executive Director Richard Ensman. “But the event will clearly set a record in scholarship support for our students, and it will exceed last year’s contributions of $52,600,” he said.

The Genesee Community College Foundation is a charitable organization dedicated to providing volunteer and philanthropic support to Genesee Community College. Formed in 1986, the Foundation has been instrumental in providing more than 3,000 scholarships over the last decade, assisting in the funding of the Conable Technology Building and the Humphrey Student Union, and the expansion of College Village, Genesee’s student residence.
