Batavia Area Jaycees Recognize Stuart and Roz Steiner

Past and current leaders of the Batavia Area Jaycees recognized Genesee Community College President Stuart Steiner and his wife Roz at the beginning of the College’s Board of Trustees meeting Monday evening.

Jaycees President Danielle Russell-Pilc presented Dr. Steiner with a plaque recognizing the Steiners’ 40 years of service to the College and community.

The Batavia Area Jaycees spearheaded a drive to generate community interest in the formation of the College in the 1960s. Two Jaycees of that era – Ronald Weiler and William Dougherty – were part of the five-member Jaycees delegation the presented the plaque.

Trustee Anne M. Garlock thanked the Jaycees for their vision in the 1960s, and for their continued interest in Genesee Community College. “It’s hard to believe that more than 40 years ago we were walking door to door building support for the College,” she said. “Without the Batavia Jaycees, we might not be sitting here today.”
