Genesee Community College Celebrates Medina Campus Center

The number six is the “correct answer” at Genesee Community College this Fall. The College will be celebrating the opening of its sixth campus center in Medina, NY in a Grand Opening reception on Wednesday, October 10 from 4:00 – 6:00 pm.

Located at 11470 Maple Ridge Road (Route 31A), the new Medina campus center features 9,000 square feet of new college academic space, a state-of-the-art science lab, wireless Internet access, and a computer lab, in addition to classrooms and office space. Offering more than twenty-four college courses already this Fall, the Medina campus center is a great place for students in Orleans County to explore career aspirations and discover success.

The new Medina Campus Center advances one of Genesee Community College’s priorities, specifically expanding access to educational services for residents of the GLOW (Genesee, Livingston, Orleans and Wyoming) counties. With the main campus in Batavia (Genesee County), the addition of the Medina Campus Center gives residents in each of the other three counties outside Genesee County two service locations for educational opportunity. The other campus centers are located in Albion (Orleans County), Lakeville and Dansville (Livingston County), and Arcade and Warsaw (Wyoming County). Genesee’s well-established Distance Learning program also offers alternative methods for learning and earning a college degree.

“We are so excited to celebrate the grand opening of this beautiful facility,” said Jim Simon, Associate Dean of the Medina Campus Center. “This is a wonderful event for the community of Medina and the opening of this sixth campus center presents a great opportunity for students in Orleans County.”

The Medina Area Scholarship Trust Fund is another example of the College’s dedication to expanding educational access and has been initially financed by Takeform Architectural Graphics of Medina. The Fund was established with the purpose providing financial assistance for tuition, books, fees and other educational expenses to local students attending Genesee Community College for credit-bearing courses.
