Genesee Community College Offers Security Guard Training

Enroll in Genesee Community College’s eight-hour Introduction to Security course and start a rewarding career as a certified NYS security guard. The Arcade campus center is offering a security guard training course on October 20 from 8:30 am – 5:00 pm. The course is open to the public at a cost of $54. This training course is part of the Introduction to Security course that students enrolled as criminal justice majors complete as a requirement of their program. Since there is community interest, the Arcade Campus is opening this section to the public, providing a great opportunity to earn the required certification to work as a security guard in New York State and a chance to experience a college class.

Under the Security Guard Act of 1992, licensing is mandatory for all contractual and proprietary security guard employers. The law requires security guards themselves to register with the New York Department of State. This 8-hour course is for anyone seeking employment as a security guard and provides an overview of the Security Guard Act of 1992. To successfully complete the course, participants must attend the entire one day class and pass the course exam.

Seating is limited. For more information contact 585-492-5265 or go to www.genesee.edu/Arcade.
