Torcello Receives President's Distinguished Service Award

Genesee Community College is pleased to announce that Marilyn Torcello has been selected to receive the 2007 President’s Distinguished Service Award. Marilyn has been working at the College for 22 years and has shown a natural ability to assist students, faculty, and staff.

As one of the most knowledgeable employees regarding the use of the College’s Banner software, Marilyn has been a tremendous asset to the institution in each of the software upgrades. She is the first person to offer assistance to co-workers and often volunteers to help others in the office or in another area of the college. Marilyn has been instrumental in maintaining high standards of data integrity within the system and is a team player both professionally and personally. This past year, Marilyn took on additional responsibilities when she was promoted to Records Coordinator.

“I can’t pick just one thing that I like about working here,” Marilyn said. “I have always enjoyed everything about working at Genesee.”

Marilyn also enjoys spending time with her three daughters, Deana, Angela, and Kristen, and her granddaughter, Anabella. Her other favorite pastimes include watching old movies and being outdoors in the summer.
