College Cruise Night Preparations Underway

With veteran cruising coordinator Ben Canham of Batavia showing his 1969 Super Sport Chevelle to one member of the College’s ‘planning pit crew,’ Cathy Costello also of Batavia and executive assistant to the president, the inaugural “Cruise at the College” anniversary event is nearly “race ready” for Saturday, July 28, 2007 at Genesee Community College. Though the cars, motorcycles, and trucks will only be on display –and not racing– at the Batavia campus, the 40th anniversary event promises to be a great event featuring delicious food and enjoyable entertainment from 3:00-8:00 pm.

“This location, between Buffalo and Rochester and the close proximity to New York State Thruway, makes it an ideal meeting place for dynamic collection of classic automobiles from near and far,” Ben said. “I can see this becoming a very popular venue for a great cruising experience with the expansive parking area and excellent facilities.” More than 100 vehicles of all varieties can be expected Canham added.

The $8 pre-sale tickets for Clor’s chicken barbecue, sponsored the Batavia Area Jaycees, are still available at Genesee County Chamber of Commerce, Licata Chiropractic & Wellness, or Grugnale’s Italian Market & Deli. Other refreshments will also be served.

The evening’s entertainment kicks off with the Ghost Riders at 3:00 pm, a local band that captures a broad range of music including originals from their three contemporary album releases. At 6:00 pm, a D.J. will pick up where the Ghost Riders leave off and close out the entertainment.

The first 200 cruiser vehicles will receive dash plaques compliments of the Batavia Area Jaycees and goodie bags compliments of Auto Zone.
