GLOW Region Youth Go To College and Perform Alice In Wonderland

Genesee Community College continues its commitment to the performing arts with its third annual Summer Youth Theatre Camp. Targeted for children ages 9 through 14 throughout the GLOW and Western New York regions, this year’s camp runs from July 9-July 27, 2007.

“We’ve had such a great response to this program throughout the community,” Maryanne Arena, Director of Fine and Performing Arts, said. “The students enjoy themselves and learn a great deal about theatre in the process. Even if they don’t go on to become famous actors and actresses, it gives them something productive and fun to do during the summer.”

The camp, which introduces children to acting, voice, movement, dance, improvisations and other theatre techniques, will culminate with the theatre campers giving a live, on-stage performance showcasing what they have learned over the summer.

On Friday, July 27, 2007 at 7:00PM, in the Stuart Steiner Theatre at Genesee Community College, the Summer Youth Theatre Camp will present Alice in Wonderland by Brainerd Duffield. Based on the immortal classic by Lewis Carol, Alice in Wonderland will be performed by this summer’s camp participants. Direction is by Maryanne Arena, with Technical Direction by Vincent Elliott.
