Genesee Community College’s Board of Trustees re-elected three officers to one-year terms this evening. The action came during the Board’s annual meeting, held at the Batavia Campus. Elected were:
• Marcia H. Noonan, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees. Mrs. Noonan, a resident of Batavia, serves as Executive Director of Victorian Manor, a residence for senior adults in Batavia. She has served as a trustee since 2001.
• Laurie J. Miller, Vice-Chairperson of the Board. Mrs. Miller, of Alexander, is one of the owners and operators of Willow Ridge Farm in Alexander. She has served as a trustee since 2000.
• Charles R. Ruffino, Secretary of the Board. Mr. Ruffino, of Batavia, is a retired New York State Department of Education administrator and trustee since 2002.
The officers will serve until the July 2008 annual meeting.
The ten-member Board of Trustees is the governing body of Genesee Community College.
In other business this evening, President Stuart Steiner reported that Marie Giardino will join Genesee’s staff as Director of the Adult Educational Opportunity Center. Ms. Giardino served as Director of Student Support Services at Rochester Institute of Technology from 1982 until her recent retirement. She holds a B.A. degree from Nazareth College, a M.S. degree from Rochester Institute of Technology, and she is a candidate for a M.S. degree from the University of Rochester. Dr. Steiner also reported that Deborah Elliott will serve as Technical Specialist in the Accelerated College Enrollment (ACE) program. She has served as a Technical Assistant in the College’s Math, Science, and Career Education division since 2004. She holds a B.S. degree from SUNY at Brockport.
