Trustees Honor Three Faculty Members with ‘Emeritus' Title Genesee Community College

The Board of Trustees granted “Faculty Emeritus” status to three Genesee Community College faculty members who are retiring this summer. They are:

• Susan H. Marschke, Professor and Career Counselor, a member of the faculty since 1981 and a resident of Brockport.
• Mary W. Platt, Professor of Psychology, a member of the faculty since 1972 and a resident of Batavia.
• Judy A. Sikora, Professor and Coordinator of Library Services, a member of the faculty since 1971, who resides in Batavia, NY.

The Board granted the honors Monday evening at the recommendation of the Board’s Personnel Committee. The Personnel Committee had earlier received the recommendations from an ad-hoc committee of the Faculty Senate, chaired by Professor of Physics Michael A. Crittenden.

The term “faculty emeritus” is honorary, and is often granted to faculty members who have completed long and distinguished careers at a college or university. Faculty emeriti are considered members of the college community, and are invited to campus events.
