Genesee Launches Cutting-Edge E-Brochure

Genesee Community College has a new tool for recruiting international students: an e-brochure translated into four languages in addition to English. The e-brochure is made available to international student advisors in more than 100 countries through i-student advisors’ network. The College also has a presence on i-student advisor’s USA edition of their e-magazine featuring community colleges.

The new e-brochure features an introductory Language Library page, interactive links to a virtual tour of the college, a location map, and a listing of degree majors in addition to photos and information about Genesee and college life. It is available in Japanese, Mandarin, Korean, and Spanish as well as English.

“We are very pleased to have a presence on such a wide-reaching website,” said Meryll Pentz, International Admissions Advisor at Genesee Community College. “This is an invaluable tool for raising awareness about Genesee on an international scale.”

Approximately 130 international students from 27 different countries are attending Genesee Community College this year. Students are drawn to the College because of its quality education and wide selection of degree programs, its state-of-the-art facilities, and its affordable tuition.

One other benefit, especially to international students, is College Village, the student housing complex adjacent to the Batavia campus. These fully furnished apartment-style suites include local telephone, television, laundry, and wireless Internet service. Recreation includes a game room, outdoor basketball and volleyball courts, and numerous scheduled events throughout the year. Residents enjoy movie nights, pizza parties, Euchre and pool table tournaments, a spring festival, field trips to nearby attractions, and much more.

“With the addition of two new residence buildings this summer at College Village, we are ready to increase our international student enrollment considerably,” Pentz said. “This new e-brochure is a great way for us to showcase the college to potential students. We are looking forward to even greater cultural diversity at the college in the coming semesters.”
