Genesee Community College has become a force in Region III Baseball. Currently the Cougars are ranked #1 in the region as they hold a regional record of 13-2. The cougars have an overall record of 18 – 9, only losing 3 of the 9 in Division III. The Cougars are led by the standout play of sophomores Andrew Van W’out, Craig Gillet, Steve Froese, and Ryan Gugel and freshman phenom Andre Kindre. Andrew Van W’out and Craig Gillet hav been getting the job done on the mound for the Cougars. Van W’out has overall record of 4-2 with a 1.47 ERA and in 43 innings pitched he has 45 strikeouts. Gillet has an overall record of 4-1 with an ERA of 2.61 with 25 strikeouts in 20 innings. The offence is where Froese, Gugel, and Kindre fit in. Froese has a .348 batting average with 4 double, 4 triples, 4 homeruns and 23 RBI’s. Gugel currently is batting .438 and Kinder .343. The cougars are expecting big things in the regional tournament that is to be held I here in Batavia at Dwyer Stadium on April 12th and 13th.
