Classic Photography Exhibit at Genesee Community College at Arcade

Peggy King Austin, proprietor of Austin Classic Photography in Chaffee, NY, is exhibiting her work for a second time at Genesee Community College’s Arcade Campus Center. Austin is the featured artist for the month of March, culminating with an artist’s reception on Wednesday, March 28 from 6-8 pm, which also coincides with the Arcade Campus Center’s Open House.

Austin, a graduate of Villa Maria with an AS in photography, opened her studio on the second floor of her home in 2004. She focuses on family portraits and senior pictures, but is also well-known for her sports team photos and her expertly prepared wedding albums.

Ms. Austin is currently attending Buffalo State College to obtain her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. She recently completed a photography project that focused on Buffalo architecture, which was highly noted by both her instructor and her fellow students. Austin plans to attend Rochester Institute of Photography and major in photography in the future.

“I just love learning about my craft and incorporating new techniques into my photos,” Austin said. “It’s fun to exhibit my work here at Genesee Community College where the students recognize the people in the pictures.”

The artist’s reception on March 28 provides a chance to meet with Austin and ask questions about her photography. The College’s Open House, which is scheduled for the same time, provides a summary of Genesee’s overall academic programs, the admissions process and opportunities for financial aid.
