Spring Open Houses including Creative Arts Friday Scheduled at Genesee Community College

Genesee Community College has announced its spring Open House schedule for 2007 which specifically includes a variety of times and days to accommodate day visits, evening visits, and weekend opportunities. The Open House provides a summary about what Genesee Community College has to offer academically for transfer and fast-track career degrees, financial aid, housing, day care, and student activities.

At the Open Houses, representatives from Admissions, Financial Aid, Student Life, Athletics, Student Support Services, and faculty give short presentations. The speakers, as well as a panel of current students, are available to answer questions.

A full campus tour is also available. In just one visit, prospective students can learn about the philosophy and opportunities at Genesee Community College. Open Houses are scheduled for the following dates:
  • Wednesday, March 28, 6:00 pm – All campus locations
  • Saturday, April 28, 12:00 pm – Batavia Campus only / Fashion Show 
  • Wednesday, May 9, 6:00 pm – All campus locations
Genesee Community College also offers Friday Visits, which are less formal but very up-tempo alternatives to Open Houses. Friday Visits feature an introduction to admissions where participants hear facts about the application process and financial aid, as well as sit in on an actual college class. Friday Visits are scheduled for 9:00 am on the following dates, all at the Batavia Campus:

  • March 23 – Creative Arts Friday 
  • March 30 
  • April 13 
  • April 20 
  • April 27
Creative Arts Day is scheduled for Friday, March 23, beginning with registration and a breakfast refreshments at 8:30 am in the Stuart Steiner Theatre Lobby Arts Gallery. This is an opportunity for students interested in pursuing a career in the arts to the dynamic arts programming offered by Genesee, meet faculty, see students working in studios, and try a hands-on activity such as throwing a pot, drawing in CAD, sketching a still life, or role playing on stage.

Following registration in the Stuart Steiner Lobby Arts Gallery, the formal program starts in the Conable Technology Building with an overview by the Admissions and Financial Aid staff from 9:00 to 10:00 AM. The program continues with Creative Arts hour from 10:00 – 11:00 where visitors can explore Genesee’s many degrees and career opportunities in the creative arts. Participants are invited to explore any two of the following creative career choices:
  • Theatre Arts
  • Technical Theatre 
  • Fine Arts 
  • Ceramics/3D 
  • Musical Theatre 
  • Digital Art 
  • Computerized Drafting and Design.
Creative Arts Day will conclude with a complete tour of the Batavia Campus and College Village.

Each attendee will receive TWO free tickets to attend Moon Over Buffalo, the hilarious comedy presented by Genesee Community College’s Forum Players on April 19-22, 2007.
