Views of Southern England: Photography of Jane Weston Exhibit at Genesee Community College

Southern England is a region of beautiful countryside and famous landmarks. Jane Weston, Associate Professor of Biology at Genesee Community College, captures this unique landscape in her photography exhibit Views of Southern England, which opens Tuesday, February 27 in the Genesee Community College Library Media Room.

Weston was born in England and grew up at Abingdon-on-Thames near Oxford. She returns to England regularly and her interest in photography began as a desire to record the memories of these visits. The images presented in this exhibition are a collection of her memories and include many of her favorite locations. They present a visual tour of England’s castles, cathedrals and ancient monuments, along with villages, pubs, and footpaths.

“I very much enjoy returning to England whenever possible,” Jane said. “These photographs share my experience and give a glimpse of life in the region.”

Weston obtained her BS in Biology from Chatham College in Pittsburgh and her PhD from the University of Kent at Canterbury in England. After living in England and then New Jersey, where her two sons were born, she moved to Western New York and began teaching at Genesee Community College in 1993.

An opening reception for Jane’s exhibit is planned for February 27 from 12:30-2:00 PM in the College’s Library Media Room. The exhibit will be on display through March 30, 2007.
