Genesee at 40 GCC Foundation's Annual Campaign Moves Ahead

Timothy D. Woodward of Batavia, president, Gilmartin Funeral Home, and general chair of the 2006-2007 Annual Campaign for Genesee Community College Foundation, announced at a recent meeting at the College that the Faculty and Staff division, chaired by Genesee professor Donna Blake and the Leadership Division led by Brian Daviau ’81, accounting manager, Markin Tubing have led the way to success.

“So far the campaign has raised over $100,000 on its way to the $285,500 goal,” Woodward said.
“Every dollar we raise is an investment in our communities and our students.” He added that by working cooperatively we can make a significant positive impact on our communities and our students.

Every gift, he stated is an opportunity to accomplish three important goals:
• To provide access to higher education for all worthy and deserving students
• To attract academically talented students to raise the level of classroom instruction
• To train our local workforce in needed careers and skills

As 2007 begins, the Genesee at Forty campaign picks up with various community divisions starting with the Wyoming division, chaired by Martin Griffith, Five Star Bank, Warsaw; and Livingston division chaired by Kevin Dougherty, Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Homes. The other divisions are the Genesee chaired by Ben and Kara Mancuso, Charles Mancuso & Son and the YWCA respectively; and the Orleans division, chaired by Marsha Winters, The Bank of Castile, Medina Branch. The Associates division for vendors of the College is chaired by Monica Dawson; the Alumni division focuses on direct mail responses and follow-up telephone calls and is chaired by Lorne Way, WBTA; and the Heritage division for Major gifts is chaired by Lynn Browne, Foundation Board Treasurer.

The Genesee Community College Foundation is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing service and support to Genesee Community College. A thirty member board of directors comprised of local business and civic leaders leads it. The Foundation, formed in the mid-eighties to provide philanthropic support to the College, provided 511 scholarships to Genesee students last year totaling $286,002. Donors may choose to support general or specific programs or remember a relative or friend with a memorial gift. Donors with cumulative gifts over $1,000 are recognized on the Wall of Honor in the William W. Stuart Forum at the Batavia campus. Gifts to the campaign may be sent to the Genesee Community College Foundation, One College Road, Batavia, NY 14020. For further information call (585) 345-6809, write to the address above, or to
