Genesee Community College Advanced Studies Gives High School Students an Edge on College

Genesee Community College’s Advanced Studies program is offering more than fifty courses available for college credit this spring, including subjects such as Calculus, Human Biology, Spanish, and Principles of Business. Forty-six area high schools scattered across ten counties including the Genesee, Livingston, Orleans and Wyoming region are participating in the program.

Courses offered through the Advanced Studies program are taught in the high schools by high school faculty who are approved by the College and serve as adjunct faculty members. These courses follow the same guidelines and learning objectives as those taught on a Genesee Community College campus.

Students who are registered in an Advanced Studies course earn college credits and high school credits simultaneously. At $48 per credit hour, tuition is one-third the cost of regular college tuition. The spring registration deadline for Advanced Studies credit is March 2, 2007.

Call the guidance counselor at your school or contact Kathy Lopes, Associate Dean of ACE Programs at Genesee Community College, at (585) 345-6801 to find out the full spring schedule or to register.
