Genesee Community College's BEST Center Receives $53,482 in Area Business Training Grants

Genesee Community College’s BEST Center, which stands for Business and Employee Training Center, has received $53,482 to provide training to employees of Nicholas Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville and Upstate Door in Warsaw, Lina LaMattina, BEST Center Director, reported to the Board of Trustees Monday evening.

The Noyes grant of $40,495 will enable the College to train hospital employees in process improvement and supervisory management. Also, Genesee is adapting LEAN manufacturing techniques to the health care environment, and will include training in these techniques at Noyes.

The Upstate Door grant of $12,987 will provide training in customer service, computer skills, supervision, and presentation techniques.

Genesee received the grants through a State University of New York grant program designed to foster workforce development.
