Hoover Named New Lacrosse Coach

Dr. Len Nardone, the Director of Athletics, recently announced that Dave Hoover has accepted the head coaching position for the Genesee Community College men’s lacrosse program. Coach Hoover served as the assistant this past season which was the first in the history of the program. He brings nearly 30 years of experience as a coach at all levels as well as a player.

Prior to last season, Coach Hoover served as an assistant coach for the East Aurora High School boys’ lacrosse team which was a Section VI finalist in 2004 and 2005. He has also served as the Head Coach at Niagara University, Williamsville North High School as well as for several club teams in Kenmore. He was a four year letter winner at Springfield College where he received All-New England Honorable Mention recognition. He was also named a tri-senior Athlete of the Year at Springfield after leading his team to the NCAA tournament in 1973.

Coach Hoover has 14 new students already committed to attend GCC next fall. Dr. Len Nardone stated, “Dave is an excellent strategist and teacher of the fundamentals of the game.  My expectation is that the team will continue to develop significantly over the next few years under his leadership.”
