The Genesee Community College men's lacrosse team completed its first ever season with four games this week. Though the team failed to win a game this year, progress was made and the foundation for success next season was built.
The Cougars lost to Broome Community College, 20-0, on Tuesday. Broome entered the game ranked 9th in the NJCAA national poll. Goalie Jeff D'Amico turned away 20 shot attempts. On Thursday, Genesee fell to Canton Community College, 15-4. Dan Page scored twice for GCC while Rich Gdanice netted one goal and assisted on another. Levi Winnie scored the other goal for the Cougars. D'Amico had 25 saves in the net.
On Saturday, Genesee battled but fell to Finger Lakes Community College, 16-8. Gdanice established a school record by scoring four games in that game. He also assisted on a goal. Winnie and Greg Knittel each added two goals and one assist a piece for Genesee. Albert Osborne chipped in with two assists. Tim Carrow, the team's lone sophomore had 15 ground balls and D'Amico stopped 34 shot attempts. On Sunday, the Cougars wrapped up their season with a 29-0 loss to Monroe Community College who is ranked 3rd in the NJCAA national poll. D'Amico had 27 saves in the game.
