The Genesee Community College softball team won four out of its six regional games this week. The team had two five inning wins over Finger Lakes Community College, 12-1 and 13-4, on Tuesday. In the first game, Ashley Smith threw a three hit gem for the Lady Cougars. Beth Romesser and Jenn Martins each went 3 for 3 at the plate. In the nightcap, Hannah Pielow earned the win on the mound as she gave up only five hits. Offensively, Danielle Ayala went 4 for 4 with two homeruns including a grand slam.
The team also swept Alfred State on Thursday, 7-4 and 9-1. Smith again picked up the win in the first game and Pielow won game two by hurling a two-hitter. On Saturday, the Lady Cougars lost both ends of the doubleheader with Jamestown Community College, 11-3 and 13-12. Jamestown had been ranked as high as 8th in the NJCAA Division III poll. The Lady Cougars are now 6-11 overall.
