Zaepfel Earns All-American Honors

Ellie Zaepfel, a freshman from Gasport, New York, earned All-American status in all three of her individual events at the NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships which were held at Palo Alto Community College in San Antonio, Texas. A swimmer must finish in the top twelve in an event to be recognized as an All-Amercian.

Zaepfel placed 9th in the 100 yard Freestyle, 10th in the 100 yard Breaststroke, and 11th in the 50 yard Freestyle to achieve the honors. Zaepfel combined with Adrienne Stamp, Maranda Koopman and Shannon MacFarlane to receive All-American recognition in three relay events as well. They placed 7th in the 800 yard, 9th in the 400 yard and 10th in the 200 yard Freestyle Relays.

Stamp placed 14th in both the 100 yard and the 200 yard Backstroke. She finished 24th in the 200 Individual Medley. Eric Wixon was 16th in the 1650 yard Freestyle, 18th in the 400 yard Individual Medley and 21st in the 500 yard Freestyle.

The women finished in 7th place in the Non-scholarship Division and 11th overall. There were 19 schools competing in the women's division. The men placed 18th overall and 13th in the Non-Scholarship Division. Twenty-one men's programs competed at the championships.
