Sophomore Don Juan Tyson connected on a school record 10 three-point field goals en route to a 39-point performance for the Genesee Community College men's basketball team in its 110-57 win over Mohawk College on Tuesday, January 10th. The previous record was nine held by Jason Cornute (1999-00) and Rashon Conty (1998-99). The Cougars also broke the school record for three's in a game with 15 total. The old record of 14 was held by the 1998-99 team.
Genesee beat Niagara College of Canada 88-76. Tyson again led the Cougars with 26 points. The Cougars then defeated Niagara County Community College, 89-66, to remain unbeaten in regional play. Quinton Lewis set a new school standard for blocks in a game with 12. Gari Fields recorded a double-double with 25 points and 21 rebounds. Tyson netted 32 points for GCC. Genesee has now won seven straight games. The Cougars are 12-2 overall and 4-0 in WNYAC/Region III play.
