The Genesee Community College men's basketball team finished the first semester undefeated against its conference opponents with a 74-70 win over Erie Community College. Free throw shooting was the difference in the game as Genesee connected on 15 out of 19 shots from the charity stripe. Erie managed only five out of nine from the line. Sophomore guard Don Juan Tyson (Buffalo) led GCC with 26 points. He hit 11 out of 13 (85%) shots from the foul line. Freshman Antonio Mullins (Baltimore, MD) recorded a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds. He also blocked four shots. Gari Fields (Rochester) added 10 points and seven boards and Jamar Gray (Rochester) dished out eight assists.
The Cougars are now 3-0 in conference and regional play. Genesee is currently receiving honorable mention in the NJCAA Division II poll. The team returns to action on Saturday, January 7th at Niagara College of Canada. Its next home game is on the 10th when it hosts Mohawk College of Canada at 7:00 pm.
