The GCC women's basketball team beat Lakeland Community College (Ohio), 61-54, on Saturday to remain unbeaten (3-0). The Lady Cougars squandered a 10-point halftime lead and fell behind by seven points with just over eight minutes remaining in the game before storming back to earn the win. The Lady Cougars managed only five points in the first twelve minutes after intermission but the defense kicked in to jump start the offense. The team held Lakeland to just seven points the rest of the way.
Sophomore Latoya Anderson (Rochester) recorded her first double-double of the year with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Sophomores Stephanie Darden (10 points and four assists) and Lizzie Roth (nine points on 4 of 5 FG's and five rebounds) also aided in the win. Up next for the Lady Cougars is a rematch against Fulton-Montgomery which the team defeated in the first game of the year.
