Lady Cougars Earn Eighth Straight Trip to Nationals

The women's volleyball team succeeded in its bid for an eighth straight trip to the National Tournament by defeating Community College of Rhode Island in three straight sets on Sunday, 30-22, 30-22, and 30-23. Alyssa Fitchette paced the Lady Cougars with 22kills and 15 blocks in the championship. Lauren Spiotta had 13 kills and eight blocks. Jen Martins set for 51 assists and added seven blocks. Jamie Huglemaier had 15 digs and 11 kills for GCC.

On Saturday, the Lady Cougars won both matches in pool play. In the first match, the team defeated CCRI 30-18, 30-12 and 28-30. In the second match, GCC defeated Lackawanna 30-21, 25-30, and 30-18. Fitchette had 20 kills and six blocks. Spiotta had 20 kills, six blocks, and six service aces. Danielle Berryman contributed with 16 kills, 17 digs, and five aces.
