Cougars Open Season 2-0

The men's basketball team opened its season with two wins over nationally ranked opponents. The team beat 8th ranked Lackawanna 81-77 on Friday and 13th ranked Community College of Rhode Island 81-71. In both games, the Cougars were down and had to storm back to secure the wins.

On Saturday against Lackawanna, Gari Fields had 25 points and 8 boards to lead Genesee. Antonio Mullins scored 21 and Don Juan Tyson added 17 points. Against CCRI, Mullins had 27 points and 10 rebounds for GCC. The Cougars capitalized on the Knights miscues as they scored 25 points off of CCRI turnovers. Tyson scored 17 points and came up with two crucial steals in the final minutes to secure the win. Fields recorded a double double with 13 points and 12 boards. All three of those players were selected to the all-tournament team.
