The Genesee Community College women's soccer team recorded an upset over Alfred State College on Tuesday. The Lady Cougars defeated a tough Pioneer team that had been ranked nationally in the top ten for most of the season and was ranked third in Region III. Freshman standout Stefanie Stedman scored the winning goal with just forty-one seconds remaining in regulation. Freshman Danielle Koers had a big day netting two goals for GCC and sophomore Jen Cavanaugh also scored once.
The Lady Cougars then suffered two heartbreaking one goal losses. On Thursday, GCC was shut out of the goal by Finger Lakes and followed that up with a 2-1 loss to Herkimer on Sunday. Cavanaugh scored the lone goal for Genesee assisted by Stedman. The Lady Cougars are now 5-8 overall and 4-6 in Region III.
