Huglemaier and Fitchette Named to All-Tournament Team at Allen Classic

Sophomore Jamie Huglemaier and freshman Alyssa Fitchette were selected to the all-tournament team of the Kaminna Allen Classic held at GCC on Friday and Saturday. Huglemaier had 31 assists, 19 digs, nine service aces, and eight blocks for the weekend. Fitchette led the team with 21 blocks and added 34 kills. Setter Jen Martins added 102 assists, 12 blocks and 11 aces.

The Lady Cougars went 3-1 in pool play to take the #2 seed into the play-off round. In the quarterfinal matchup, GCC defeated Onondaga in two straight sets. Up next in the semifinals was 7th ranked Vincennes. Genesee won the first game but dropped the next two in a heartbreaking loss. Vincennes then defeated #2 Kellogg to claim the classic title.

During the week, the Lady Cougars continued their unbeaten string in conference play by defeating Erie CC (30-17, 30-28, 30-17) and Alfred State (30-17, 30-21, 30-12) in straight sets. Martins had 50 assists in the two matches. Fitchette had 13 and Danielle Berryman added 11 kills for Genesee. The Lady Cougars are now 21-5 overall and 6-0 in conference play.
