Men's Soccer Suffers Tough Back to Back Losses

The Genesee Community College men's soccer team had run its record to 5-0 Region III, Division III competition this year with a 4-1 victory of Jefferson on Monday. But, that was followed up by two one goal losses. Hudson Valley, ranked 5th in the region, managed to score a goal in the final minute to defeat the Cougars 1-0. The team then lost 2-1 to Mohawk Valley.

Against Jefferson, Mike Mertz and Mike Brazis each scored two goals for the Cougars. Mertz scored the lone goal against Mohawk Valley. Genesee is now 5-3 overall and 5-2 in regional play.

The Genesee Community College women's soccer team won its second straight game by beating Jefferson CC on Monday, 4-2. Stefanie Steadman netted three goals and Danielle Koers scored the other one for GCC.

The team then had to face Mohawk Valley CC on Saturday. Mohawk Valley is the defending National Champion and are ranked #1 in the country again this year. The Lady Cougars were beaten soundly, 7-0. GCC is now 2-4 overall and 2-2 in regional play.
