Women's Volleyball Sweeps the Competition at Broome Tournament

The Genesee Community College women's volleyball went a perfect 5-0 at the Broome CC tournament held on Saturday. In pool play, the team defeated Northland from Thief River Falls, Minnesota (30-13, 30-14), Corning CC (30-17, 30-17) and Onondaga CC (30-17, 30-23). The team then faced Northampton College of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania in the semi-finals (30-23, 30-18). In the finals, GCC beat Monroe CC (30-27, 30-13).

The Lady Cougars were led by sophomore Jamie Hugelmaier with 87 assists and 16 service aces. Freshman Danielle Berryman also had 28 kills and 10 aces. Freshman Alyssa Fitchette contributed with 24 kills and 11 blocks. Next up for the Lady Cougars is conference match on Thursday, September 8th with Niagara CCC before heading to Michigan to play in the Mott CC tournament on Friday and Saturday. Genesee is now 10-0 overall.
