Nikki Torcello, a freshman from Churchville, threw not one but two complete games this week in which she allowed only two hits for the Genesee Community College softball team. On Tuesday, the Lady Cougars split with Tompkins Cortland Community College. Torcello helped the team win 2-0 with one of her gems. She struck out five batters. In the second game, the Lady Panthers prevailed against the Lady Cougars, 12-6. Genesee then lost two close games to Corning Community College on Thursday. They lost 6-2 in game one and 4-2 in the nightcap. The team managed a split on Saturday against Herkimer Community College. Torcello helped GCC win the first game 6-0 with her second two-hitter of the week. However, the team lost a tough one, 7-5, in the second game. Jamie Hugelmaier, a freshman from Brockport, and Sam Poodry, a freshman from Akron, are leading the Lady Cougars at the plate. Hugelmaier has a .575 batting average and Poodry is batting at a .500 clip. Genesee is now 4-9 overall and 4-8 in Region III, Division III play.
