Eleven members of the Genesee Community College Swimming & Diving team received All-American honors for their efforts at the NJCAA National Championships held in Fort Pierce, Florida last week. The men's team finished third in the non-scholarship division and in eighth place overall out of 13 teams. The women finished sixth in the non-scholarship division and tenth place overall. There were 17 teams in the women's division.
Dale Pearce earned seven All-American honors overall. He placed fourth in the 1650 Freestyle, eighth in the 200 Backstroke and tenth in the 100 Backstroke. He was a part of four relay teams that received All-American status as well. He set new school, Region III and Northeast District records in the 1650 Freestyle and in the 1000 Freestyle. Tim Pirdy received five All-American awards. He placed eighth in the 400 Individual Medley and set a new school record in that event. Joe Roche became an All-American in the 400 Individual Medley and the 200 Backstroke. All three were a part of the 400 Freestyle (8th), the 800 Freestyle (5th), the 200 Medley (7th) and the 400 Medley (5th) relay teams that achieved All-American status. Nick Bonn (4), Adam Weil (2), Tim Boggs, Mark Conschafter were also a part of relay teams that received All-American honors.
For the women, Melynda Weaver earned three All-American awards. She placed 5th in the 1-Meter and 7th in the 3-Meter Diving events. Danielle Powers placed 7th in the 1-Meter and 6th in the 3-Meter Diving events. Those two combined with Adrienne Stamp and Rachel Aldridge to place 12th in the 200 Freestyle relay.
