The Genesee Community College concluded one of its toughest regular season schedules ever with two more wins last week. The lady Cougars ran their record to 25-5 overall and 12-2 in WNYAC/Region III play and finished 13th in the final NJCAA Division II poll.
Genesee defeated Jamestown-Olean 100-32 in its final home game of the year. Sophomore Antionetta Young scored 22 points to lead GCC. Danielle McCray tallied 21 points and 10 rebounds and Polina Ivanova added 15 points and seven steals.
The team traveled to Lakeland Community College in Ohio for its final game in a battle of national powers. The Lady Cougars shot 55% from the floor as they won 76-68. Young poured in 26 points and garnered 10 boards to lead GCC. Danielle McCray also recorded a double double with 14 points and 14 boards. Stephanie Darden chipped in with 14 points and six assists and Latoya Anderson added 12 points.
