Men's Swimming & Diving Achieves Highest Finish Ever

The Genesee Community College Men's Swimming and Diving team had a record setting weekend as it placed second in the Region III/Northeast District meet held at Monroe Community College. It was the team's highest finish ever at this competition.

Sophomore Dale Pearce placed first in three events-the 100 backstroke, the 200 backstroke, and the 1650 Freestyle. Pearce set new records in each of these events. Freshman Adam Dewey also won three individual events and established new standards in each event. Dewey won the 50, the 100 and the 200 Freestyle events.

Peace and Dewey combined with Nick Bonn and Tim Pirdy to win the 800 Freestyle Relay in record time. That same foursome placed second in the 400 Freestyle Relay. Peace, Dewey and Pirdy along with Joe Roche placed third in both the 200 (new record) and the 400 Medley Relays. Pirdy also set a new school record while placing 3rd in the 400 Individual Medley.

The women's team placed 6th in Region III and 7th overall in the Northeast District. Melynda Weaver placed second in both the one meter and three meter diving events. Danielle Powers placed third in the three meter diving.
