Men's Basketball Team Falls Short Against Mercyhurst NE

The Cougars took Mercyhurst NE, who is currently in first place in WNYAC/ Region III, to the wire before falling 70-69. Genesee shot the ball well as it connected on 50% of its shots for the game and 67% from three-point range. The Cougars led most of the way but could not hold on in the end. In the last thirty seconds, MNE connected on a 3-point shot to tie the game and hit the front end of a one and one with two seconds left in the game for the win. Phil Santiago scored 23 points and pulled down seven caroms for GCC. Bart Tooms added 22 points and eight boards and Jim Irwin had nine points and dished out eight assists.

The Cougars couldn't hit anything in the first half of its game against Jamestown. The team was held to a season low 36 points in as it managed to only connect on 34% of its field goal attempts. Irwin scored 17 points for GCC. Santiago gathered in nine rebounds.

Genesee was within five points at the half versus Monroe, but the Tribunes knocked down 8 out of 11 three's in the second half to pull away. Santiago scored 26 points and had seven boards. Bart Tooms had eight rebounds to lead GCC.
