The Genesee Community College Men's Basketball avenged an early season loss in its Tip-off tournament by defeating the Community College of Rhode Island. The Cougars won 78-76 as Phil Santiago was fouled and hit both his free throws with seven seconds remaining in the game. Santiago finished with a team high 28 points, including eight of ten from the charity stripe. White (16), Holmes (15) and Bart Tooms (13) also scored in double figures for the Cougars.
On Thursday night, the Cougars blew a chance to avenge another one of its losses as the team blew an eight point lead with three minutes left to play against Erie Community College. Reggie Holmes had 26 points and nine rebounds to lead GCC. Phil Santiago added 24 points, seven assists and four steals. Jim Irwin had 18 points and AJ White scored 13 points.
