Cougars Win GCC Invitational

The Genesee Community College Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving teams each won the GCC Invitational meet held on November 20th. The field included teams from Morrisville, Erie, Jamestown, Alfred State, Delhi, and Cobleskill. Both teams used their depth to secure the overall title. Each team scored many of its points by placing multiple finishers in the top six of each event.

For the men's team, Adam Dewey finished first in the 50 and 100 yard freestyle events and Dale Pearce won the 100 Backstroke and the 200 Freestyle. The men's 800 Freestyle Relay team of Dewey, Pearce, Nick Bonn and Adam Weil won the final event to clinch the overall title for the Cougars. Joe Roche secured a second place finish in the 500 Freestyle and the 200 medley Relay team of Pearce, Tim Pirdy, Roche, and Dewey also placed second.

Ashley McMorran led the Lady Cougars by winning the 100 Breaststroke and was a part of the winning 200 Medley Relay team. Adrienne Stamp, Stefanie Platt, and Stephanie Howard were also a part of that relay team. Platt finished second in the 100 Butterfly and Danielle Powers took second in the 1 Meter Diving.
