The Genesee Community College Women's Volleyball went into the National Championships as the #11 seed and faced two strong teams last week. In their opening match, the Lady Cougars had to face Kishwaukee Community College. Kishwaukee entered the tournament as the #3 seed while being ranked #2 in the NJCAA Division II National poll. The Lady Cougars fell in straight sets, 15-30, 21-30, and 21-30. In the second round of pool play, the team had to face the #6 seed Kellogg Community College. Kellogg is ranked 7th in the NJCAA poll. Genesee lost this match in straight sets as well, 13-30, 20-30, and 10-30.
Kishwaukee and Kellogg each advanced to the national semi-final matches before losing. Kishwaukee finished 3rd by defeating Kellogg in the consolation match of the tournament. St. Clair County closed the volleyball season as National Champions.
