The Genesee Community College Men's Soccer team headed into regional play with high hopes. But, on Saturday afternoon in a first round game against Tompkins Cortland CC, those hopes were dashed when Chris Cornwell's penalty kick high the goal post. The two teams battled to a 2-2 tie after two overtimes. Sophomore Wataru Wakamatsu scored both goals for GCC.Earlier in the week, the number one team in the country, Herkimer came into the GCC campus and dominated the Cougars 7-0. The Cougars finish the year with a 12-6-1 record overall. Genesee was 6-1 in the Western New York Athletic Conference and 11-4-1 against Region III, Division III opponents.
