Batavia Wal-Mart Continues Its Support of Genesee Community College's Annual Student Fashion Show

"Once Upon a Time" is Scheduled April 29th

Ms. Rhea Hewitt, personnel manager of Batavia Wal-Mart presented the first donation for Genesee Community College's 25th Annual Fashion Show this week to a group of Fashion Merchandising students who are busy coordinating the many details of the special anniversary program. This year's Fashion Show follows the theme "Once Upon A Time" and is scheduled Saturday, April 29, 2006. Similar to last year, the program will be presented two times, with the first show at 3:00 PM and a second show at 7:00 PM, both at the Batavia campus in the William W. Stuart Forum.

Ms. Hewitt came to the College and spoke about her remembrances of the Fashion Show that she helped coordinate when she was a Genesee student in the early 1990s. She encouraged students to enjoy their own experiences, and she continued Wal-Mart's 10-year long tradition of supporting the event.

"We are very appreciative of Wal-Mart's continued support of this great community event," Professor Rick Dudkowski said. "As the Silver Anniversary of the Fashion Show, this year's program will be particularly spectacular. We are delighted to be including the efforts and talent of our Hospitality Management students this year. The combined energy and creativity of our students to produce this professionally staged show is not only a wonderful educational opportunity, but an exciting event for the whole region."

Wal-Mart will be joined by approximately a dozen other corporate sponsors from Western New York in supplying clothing, accessories, and other materials that help create the program's overall success. Tickets for the show will be available in advance for $5 or at the door for $7. For further information on tickets or sponsorship opportunities please call 585-345-6830.
