Russell Romano of Batavia, Manager of Nothnagle Realtors Batavia Office and General Chair of the 2004-2005 Genesee Community College Foundation annual campaign recently announced that the campaign has raised $278,500 surpassing its goal of $274,500.
Mr. Romano said that the success was due to the teamwork of the campaign chairs who led each division:

Toni Ann Moore of Leicester, senior clerk of Surrogate Court - Livingston County Division
Meg Pearson of Hamlin, assistant vice president, Bank of America, Albion Office - Orleans County Division
Marty Griffith of Arcade, senior vice president Retail Banking, Wyoming County Bank - Wyoming County Division
Patricia Burns of Batavia, retired Genesee business faculty - Associates Division
"This year was an incredible success," Romano continued. "Every person volunteering on the campaign and each generous gift to the campaign helped to put us over the top." He added that for the past academic year the Foundation awarded 508 scholarships to both attract and retain worthy and deserving students and, in doing so, expended $232,185 for scholarships, grants and programs.
It is widely recognized that scholarships from Genesee Community College Foundation encourage bright students to attend Genesee and to raise the level of instruction in the classroom; provide access to higher education by worthy and deserving students in need; and encourage students to remain in the region upon graduation, thereby, sustaining the local workforce.
