The Office of the President of Genesee Community College recently recognized two employees and one student for their contributions to the College. Genesee's dedicated nursing staff, Mrs. Gloria Cipollone and Mrs. Lucy Minor shared the honor of Employee of the Month for February, while Adrian Wagner has been chosen as the February Student of the Month.
Gloria J. Cipollone and Lucy J. Minor - Employees of the MonthFor more than 25 years collectively, Genesee Community College has enjoyed the tireless devotion and quiet reliability of Gloria Cipollone and Lucy Minor, two dedicated nurses and health care professionals who have attended to thousands of students, faculty and staff members through the years. While helping to ensure the health and welfare of the campus community on a day-to-day basis, the College's nurses have also managed a wide range of unfunded health related mandates handed down from state and federal regulating bodies. As an example, the Meningitis requirement resulted in over 3,000 contacts, forms and data files being recently recorded into the Health Office records. In addition to this tremendous task, they also initiated new programs such as onsite clinics for the flu and Hepatitis as well as STD testing. In addition, both Gloria and Lucy are well versed in the life of the College community, frequently volunteering to meet the needs of various organizations and staying abreast of the software programs.
Prior to the start of her tenure at Genesee in 1991, Gloria was a nurse on the medical / surgical unit at Genesee Memorial Hospital. She received her degree from Sisters of Charity School of Nursing in Buffalo in 1976. She resides in Batavia with her husband, Pierluigi, and enjoys shopping and traveling including visiting her daughter in New York City and her beloved New York Yankees, as well as her son in Rochester.
Lucy began her tenure at Genesee Community College in 1993. Previously, she worked at Batavia City Schools. She earned her degree in Nursing from SUNY Brockport in 1972. When she isn't working at the College, Lucy's hobbies include traveling and enjoying her grandchildren. She and her husband, Travis, reside in Batavia.
