The Office of the President of Genesee Community College recently recognized December's employee and student of significant appreciation. Patty Hawley, a dedicated member of Genesee's Fine Arts staff and the Manager of the Box Office was named Employee of the Month in December, while Mary Bruce has been chosen as the December Student of the Month.
Patty Hawley - Employee of the MonthThough she works only part-time, Patty has been a valuable member of the Fine Arts staff since 2000 and continues to manage the Box Office of Genesee Center for the Arts. She takes the initiative to spearhead numerous fund raising efforts and pursue grant opportunities to support and promote many arts events. She developed and coordinated the program booklet which garnered several thousand dollars in advertising revenue to support artistic productions while also establishing important, long-term relationships with area businesses. Through her grant writing abilities, Genesee secured funds that brought Anton Dudley, a New York City based playwright, for a week-long residency at the College in 2003. In addition to her proactive support of Genesee's Arts Center, Patty writes press releases, facilitates numerous mailings and flyers to school groups, and provides a positive role model for numerous students and fellow colleagues.
Her extensive commitment to the Genesee Center for the Arts is balanced with the responsibilities of being a dedicated mother to three teenage daughters, and the pursuit of her own bachelor's degree in communications as she takes classes at SUNY Brockport. The Hawley family lives in Batavia.
