The office of the President of Genesee Community College is pleased to announce this month's employee and student of significant recognition. Santina M. Marsceill has been chosen as the October Employee of the Month for her commitment as staff associate at The BEST Center, and Adam F. Weil was selected for the October Student of the Month for his achievements in Genesee's Theatre Arts department and also on the Men's Swim Team.
Santina M. (Augello) Marsceill - Employee of the MonthSantina or "Tina" Marsceill was chosen as the October Employee of the Month due to her excellent service in a wide range of marketing initiatives for The BEST Center, which is Genesee Community College's workforce development division. Tina began her tenure for the College in 1999, and she commented on the great team of co-workers she has had the pleasure to work with every day. The BEST Center, which stands for Business and Employee Skills Training, is known for offering state-of-the-art educational and training resources to area businesses, industries, and public service organizations throughout Genesee, Livingston, Orleans and Wyoming counties.
Tina's career at Genesee Community College actually began right after she graduated from Elba Central School in 1995. She has two degrees from the College, the first being an Associate in Applied Science in Commercial Art earned in 1997. Two years later, Tina received her second degree, an A.A.S. in Office Technology. She applies all of her acquired skills at the BEST Center as she helps to coordinate and promote meaningful programs that will enable the success and growth of area businesses and community organizations.
Not only is Tina a hard-working Genesee Community College employee, but she is also a hard-working mother and wife. With her husband, Steven, they just had their first child, Zachary, in June. They also care for their family dog, a chocolate lab named Cooter. In what little spare time Tina can muster between her responsibilities at The BEST Center and being a dedicated mother to an infant, Tina enjoys attending craft shows, reading, and gardening. The Marsceill family lives in Elba, New York.
Adam F. Weil - Student of the MonthAs a sophomore in Genesee's Theatre Arts program, Adam F. Weil has distinguished himself in places all around campus?as a student in his classes, as a competitive swimmer on Genesee's Men's Swim Team, and in the Stuart Steiner Theatre as an enthusiastic theatre major. He is also captain of the Men's Swim Team and he has been very active in the College's theatre productions, including directing the lighting for last season's production of the "The Apple Tree," and as stage manager for the recently produced performance of "The Importance of Being Earnest."
Adam is a 2003 graduate of Alexander High School where he received high honors in the BOCES / Electronics program. He earned a perfect attendance record for two years, and he received recognition by the National Vocational Technical Honors Society.
Adam anticipates graduating from Genesee Community College in May 2005, and is planning to continue his education at the University of Buffalo in the Theatre program specializing as a lighting technician. On the rare moments when he is caught up all on his studies, rehearsal schedules, and in between swimming meets, Adam enjoys a wide array of outdoor activities. He resides in Darien Center with his family.
