The business of show business is highlighted this weekend at the Stuart Steiner Theatre as "Forbidden Broadway", a quartet of satirists, poke fun at the Great White Way, proving that it's no longer true that "there's no business like show business."
Nothing is "forbidden" for the members of the award-winning cast as they spoof everything from The Lion King, Chicago, Mamma Mia, and The Producers to their all-star casts including Barbra Streisand, Carol Channing, Liza Minnelli, Ethel Merman, and Andrew Lloyd Webber. Time Magazine calls "Forbidden Broadway, one of the year's ten best." Created and written by Gerrard Allessandrini, "Forbidden Broadway" is a must for everyone who loves comedy and Broadway.
"Forbidden Broadway" is sponsored by the Fine Arts Committee at Genesee Community College. "We have such a wealth of community theatre here in Genesee County?that we thought this show would be a great addition to our Fine Arts Calendar," Patricia Hawley, Audience Services Manager at the Stuart Steiner Theatre said. "All of Broadway's best shows - many which have been recreated on our own local stages over the years - can be seen in 97 hilarious minutes."
