Background: Through a collaborative effort shared by numerous private and public sector organizations, the World Wide Web presence of businesses in Genesee County is being enhanced. The luncheon reception, hosted by The BEST Center of Genesee Community College and co-partner Genesee County Chamber of Commerce will allow New York State Senator Mary Lou Rath to meet the many participants of the E-Business Initiative. With the support of Senator Rath, The BEST Center, Genesee County Chamber of Commerce (GCCC) and Entre Computer Services were pleased to receive a $100,000 grant, administered through Empire State Development Corporation, to develop two distinct E-business initiatives. The first component of the project is the development of a "web portal" for the Genesee County Chamber of Commerce (http://geneseeny.com/). This new portal will serve as an effective platform for the web presence of area small businesses. The grant is also funding the development and/or enhancement of websites of selected Genesee County businesses listed above, whose marketing, retail, customer service, or business practices will greatly benefit from the Internet expertise provided by Entre Computer Services.

Senator Rath is expected to speak at approximately 12:40 PM.
