Scott Hunsinger, the Aquatics Director of Genesee Community College and the Head Coach for Genesee's Men's and Women's Swimming teams, is very deserving of the honor of Employee of the Month. During the past season, the Women's Swimming and Diving Team won the Region 3 and Northeastern District Championship, while the Men's team placed third. In addition, Scott's coaching style and his dedication earned him the distinction of Women's Swimming and Diving "Coach of the Year." Scott works closely with Genesee's Admissions staff, who have come to rely on his ability to present the College's first-class aquatics facility and programs. He is exceptional in developing an immediate rapport with new or prospective students and their parents?giving a positive impression of the College and sharing the innumerable reasons to enroll in Genesee. Before starting his Genesee tenure in January 1999, Scott worked as the Aquatics Director at Rush-Henrietta High School; as the Boy's Varsity Swimming Coach at Churchville-Chili High School, and the Girl's Assistant Varsity / JV Coach at Spencerport High School. He earned his Bachelor's of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Fairmont State College in West Virginia in 1989. With his wife, Kory, Scott resides in Brockport, NY where he enjoys gardening, cooking and cheering on the Buffalo Bills and Sabres.

Dimitrios Karamanos - Student of the Month

As a student soon to graduate from Genesee's Fashion Merchandising Program and the coordinator of Genesee's 23rd Annual Fashion Show scheduled April 24, 2004, one might expect Dimitrios to be somewhat harried and hard to pin down for an interview. On the contrary, Dimitrios is always readily available to faculty, friends and colleagues who need his assistance, and he consistently goes the "extra mile" for the success of academic and professional projects. His conscientious work ethic has resulted in him being elected for Who's Who in U.S. Junior Colleges and a Chancellor's Student Award; and in April he will be inducted into Phi Theta Kappa, Genesee's Honor Society. Prior to coming to Genesee Community College, Dimitrios enrolled for one year at SUNY Plattsburgh, and he worked as a fashion photographer in his native home of Athens, Greece. With a long-term academic goal of earning a doctoral degree from a prestigious college such as Wharton University of Pennsylvania, Dimitrios is planning to first apply to the University of Buffalo or Canisius College for a Bachelor's degree in Marketing. For these and many other reasons, Dr. Steiner, President of Genesee Community College awarded Dimitrios Student of the Month for March.
