Local Citizens Establish Livingston County Scholarship Endowment Trust Fund with the Genesee Community College Foundation

Gary Kone, a resident of Avon, President of FTT Manufacturing in Geneseo, and Chairman of the Livingston Division of the Genesee Community College Foundation's annual campaign announced that concerned citizens are establishing a Livingston County Scholarship Endowment Trust as an integral part of this year's Foundation campaign. This year's campaign theme, "Our Best Investment" reflects four critical objectives: the desire to support excellence in the classroom through scholarship incentives for students with potential for academic achievement; making higher education available to all capable persons regardless of their ability to pay tuition; to train and retain the local workforce; and involve the community in the life of the College.

"The instruction and training that happens year-round at Genesee Community College makes an incredible difference to our local workforce," Kone said. "The College gives students confidence and hope for the future, and provides a crucial service to local businesses who are looking for qualified employees."

Kone added that when the Dansville Campus Center was opened in 2002 local citizens supported a Dansville Area Scholarship Trust and the new endowment trust fund will not compete. Gifts may be directed to either fund and awards will be made to qualifying students from either fund. Supporting the campaign presents an opportunity for the community to promote a higher education for its residents and to provide financial assistance to students that may be used to defray the cost of tuition, fees, books and other educational expenses while in attendance at the College. Information regarding the fund may be obtained from Mr. Kone or any of the volunteers in the campaign.
